Wauquiez performs to the Export.

After getting back to the Wauquiez DNA (high-end, customized, short series yachts using only beeswaxed teak and top-of-the-range equipment) Wauquiez sees a significant growth of its export sales since the beginning of 2011 with sales in Sweden, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Spain… and also in the USA where even with a weak Dollar versus the Euro, Wauquiez have succeeded to impose its difference versus its competitors and local manufacturers.

Wauquiez Skis!

Though the teak layer is sourced at Wauquiez, Wauquiez skis are manufactured by ski masters at « l’atelier du forgeron » close to the French Alps (a subsidiary of Wauquiez Boats). First Wauquiez Free-Ride and Carve models had quite a success when shown during Cannes and Genoa boat shows… For more information contact us through the contact page.

Group Experton-Revollier acquires Wauquiez Shipyard

Neuville-en-Ferrain (France) January 20.2011 –

The Experton-Revollier Group has purchased the Wauquiez Shipyard. The takeover is consistent with the Group’s guiding principles of long-term financial partnerships and value creation. The strategic investment will revitalize the shipyard, consolidate and extend their expertise - quality, attention to detail, customer satisfaction- and lead to a new strategic development plan.

Production is maintained on the historical site of Neuville en Ferrain near Lille (North of France) to preserve Wauquiez’s unique expertise and know-how which have been consistently recognized and appreciated by the 2500 owners of Wauquiez yachts in France and abroad for nearly half a century.

Experton-Revollier’s strategic diversification into nautical activities started five years ago; the acquisition of Wauquiez shipyard marks a strategic step in the Group’s growth plan.

Founded in 1965, the Wauquiez yards are specialized in the manufacture and distribution of exclusive yachts. The Wauquiez yards design 39’ to 65', fast ocean-going cruisers which have marked the history of international yachting (including the legendary Centurions, Gladiators, Praetorians, Pilot Saloon ...).Their lines are reputed for their seaworthiness and the outstanding quality of the woodwork and finishings.

The Experton-Revollier Group

A bicentennial family industrial group (founded in 1810), the Experton-Revollier Group is the first independent steel processor in France with over 2,000 employees across 70 sites, and 450 million euros of annual turnover.

Virtual tour of the Pilot Saloon 47 and the Opium 39 by Wauquiez available on line!

There are now two virtual tours on our website, so that you can visit our boats outside of boat show periods, or revisit at your leisure the things that attracted you when you last saw the boat, both on deck and down below. Or perhaps check a detail… Naturally, it cannot replace the smell of beeswax from the Abbey of Saint-Wandrille on the teak, or the feel of solid wood, or the direct light and the view over the sea from the saloon in the Pilot Saloon, but it’s one better than simple photos...

Tours of the other boats will be available soon...

The virtual tours can be accessed under the “our range” section for each boat.

Marc Lombard, designer of the Opium 39 and the new 47' from Wauquiez

Marc Lombard, designer of the Opium 39, saw his Akilaria designs claim the top three positions at the Class40 World Championship.

« This year’s Class40 World Championship was held in Gijon (Spain). The result was an overwhelming victory for the "AKILARIA" designs from naval architect Marc Lombard, with three boats on the podium.

The Lombard design office congratulates the crews on these three boats on their superb regatta. The next big event of the 2010 season is the Route du Rhum, in which all three boats will be competing.

Well done again to the sailors and thank you for having chosen designs from the Marc Lombard design office. »

Ettore Yachting delivers its first Opium 39 by Wauquiez, optimised for performance...

"It was with great anticipation that we awaited the launch of our Opium 39 by Wauquiez.

The expected performance was obvious from the very first outing, the carbon mast works perfectly and highlights the powerful and stable hull of the Opium 39 optimised by Wauquiez.

The carbon bowsprit which is integrated into the hull makes it very easy to use the asymmetric spinnaker and gennaker. The sail plan which we opted for features a 45.40 m2 mainsail and a 110% overlapping 45.40 m2 genoa with a battened positive roach.

The wardrobe is completed by a staysail with a removable furler, which can be stowed vertically at the mast when manœuvring under genoa, and is attached beneath the forestay, thus removing the requirement for runners; there is also a masthead-rigged 100 m2 composite gennaker, on a furler, whose range is upwind through to 140° off the wind.

The delivery from Port Camargue to the Cannes Boat Show gave us the opportunity to fine tune the trim and assess the handling and performance of the Opium 39 by Wauquiez in both light airs and breeze. The boat has since been handed over to her contented owners, Mr and Mrs C and their daughter Agathe."

Ein "grand voyage" mit Centurion 40 S

The long distance voyage of a Centurion 40 S

Thierry C.

Ceres reached Angra in the Azores a few weeks ago, following a year of cruising from Norway to Portugal, the Cape Verdes, French Guyana, Cuba, the Bahamas and Bermuda. After 12,000 miles in all conditions, we left the boat in Angra in excellent condition. Ceres worked perfectly, and we only broke one halyard and the joint on the stove. This outstanding report is testament to the quality of your workmanship and we are most grateful.

Ceres, a Centurion 40S, is not specifically designed for long-distance cruising, but is nevertheless a boat on which long-distance cruising can be undertaken in an excellent state, even with a small crew (2 to 4 people, and not always with much experience). We feel that we extended the boat’s programme a little by taking her up to 80° North in 2008, and to 5° North in 2009. The seaworthiness of the boat nevertheless meant that we felt safe at all times, and enabled us to fulfil the aims we set ourselves.

This is to thank you, and your associates involved in the Centurion 40S, for a boat which looked after us splendidly during a brilliant year.

Thierry C.

Wauquiez employees undertake restoration of a launch

Wauquiez’s expertise came to the rescue of a launch from the Marine Nationale, which was in need of some restoration. Our friends got to work in their spare time to bring new life to these sail training boats, still in use at the Prés du Hem watersports centre, run by Mr Gaétan Dalle under the auspices of Lille Métropole Communauté Urbaine, and where there have been sailing lessons for employees of the shipyard. She will soon be looking brand new, thanks to the expertise and the love of ship building of Wauquiez’s employees, so that even the most recalcitrant of northerners can be introduced to sailing. There will soon be a photo of the restored “Launch by Wauquiez”, before she is launched in the autumn and goes out sailing.

Pilot Saloon 47 Evolution under the sun in Le Crouesty (France)

Having hosted the now famous Escale Wauquiez 2010 and its 23 boats of all generations in May (see the news below), the port of Le Crouesty is currently harbouring a Pilot Saloon 47 Evolution, which will shortly be leaving for Cannes. This is an opportunity to admire the boat on the dock or on the water, or even to have a chat with the “contented” owner, who, rumour has it, would be delighted.

Double delivery of PS 47 Evolutions in Dunkirk (France)

June saw a few days of intense activity for us in the town of Dunkirk: preparation, launch and delivery of two Pilot Saloon 47 Evolution yachts. Like their bigger sister, the Pilot Saloon 55, these new boats feature some undeniable attributes: extremely careful finishing, raised saloon and seating, interior woodwork in teak, cold- molded wood, with three coats of varnish, smooth finish and waxed with beeswax which provides splendid luminosity, a larger technical compartment, easy access, optimised, better sound-proofed, machinery compartment and engines in white, reinforced structure and bulkheads laminated to the hull, new cockpit layout, and of course there is the famous panoramic view of the sea… not to mention the performance under sail: Wauquiez delivers. One of the two yachts is already sailing in Brittany en route to the Mediterranean, where you will see her in Cannes. The other will be initially heading for Southampton mid-July.
You will no doubt see them on the dock this summer.
